.DISCUSSION...
Breezy northwest winds between 15-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph
are expected along and north of US-380 this afternoon.
Additionally, very low relative humidity between 15-20% is
expected across much of the region today. A critical wildfire
threat will continue across Young, Jack, Montague, and Wise
counties where a Red Flag Warning remains in effect through this
evening. An elevated wildfire threat will also exist across the
most of North Texas and western portions of Central Texas. Winds
will decrease to around 5-10 mph early this evening, shifting out
of the north with the arrival of a cold front later into the
evening/overnight hours.
Lighter winds will keep the fire threat low on Friday. Another
cold front will bring breezy north winds and low relative humidity
to the region on Saturday. While temperatures will be cooler, an
elevated wildfire threat may materialize west of the I-35 corridor
Saturday afternoon where humidity is expected to drop to 20-30%.
A couple of cooler days with light winds will keep fire weather
concerns to a minimum Sunday and Monday, but warm, breezy, and dry
weather will likely allow fire weather concerns to re-emerge
Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
