.DISCUSSION...
Elevated fire weather concerns will continue through Tuesday as
hot temperatures, minimum afternoon relative humidity in the 20 to
30 percent range, dry fuels, and persistent drought conditions
support favorable conditions for fire growth, particularly across
western North Texas. While southerly winds will remain below
critical thresholds, any fire starts could still spread
efficiently during the afternoon hours.
A weakening tropical system will bring increasing moisture and
rain chances to portions of Central and East Texas Wednesday into
Thursday, resulting in higher humidity, greater cloud cover, and a
reduction in the meteorological fire threat across those areas.
The greatest potential for wetting rainfall will remain across the
eastern half of the forecast area, while western counties may see
only limited improvement. As the tropical moisture departs and
the subtropical ridge rebuilds late week into the Labor Day
weekend, hot and predominantly dry conditions are expected to
return, leading to another increase in fire weather concerns.
