.DISCUSSION...
Hot and predominantly dry weather will continue through the first
week of September as upper-level ridging remains firmly
established across the Southern Plains. Efficient afternoon mixing
will lower minimum relative humidity into the 20 to 30 percent
range across much of North and Central Texas, with the lowest
values generally across the western counties. Persistently hot
temperatures, worsening drought, and increasingly dry fuels will
maintain an elevated fire threat each afternoon. Winds should
remain relatively modest through the weekend, limiting the broader
potential for rapid fire spread, though any ongoing fires will
remain susceptible to localized increases in activity during peak
heating. Fire weather concerns will continue into next week as hot
and dry conditions persist, with any increase in southerly winds
potentially aggravating the threat.
