.DISCUSSION...
The fire weather threat will increase over the weekend for areas
near and west of I-35 as drier air continues to filter into the
region and winds increase in speed. The fire weather concern will
be most prevalent on Sunday, where an elevated threat for grass
fires will be present for areas west of I-35. This is due to
expected wind speeds of 10-15 mph (gusts up to 20-25 mph), low
humidity around 20-35%, and high ERC percentiles. Caution will
need to be taken as any current fires or new fire starts will have
a faster rate of spread.
Winds will decrease in speed and humidity will increase starting
early next week, allowing for a lower fire threat for the rest of
the forecast period.
