.DISCUSSION...

Stratus and fog this morning with light winds. Winds shift
southerly today as surface high pressure moves east. Temperatures
warm into the 80s and lower 90s, warmest west of the James River.
Hot and humid conditions expected Saturday, with near normal
temperatures Sunday into next week. Heat index values Saturday
will be near 100 degrees for portions of the area.

Shower and storm chances return late this afternoon, with
periodic showers and storms continuing into next week. Best
chances are expected during the afternoon hours into the early
overnight.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the low category
this afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the
ground, indicate that the probability of a fast moving fire is
low. Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be
with reasonable safety precautions, but should be monitored.

OUTLOOK FOR SATURDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index
will reach the low category.

The grassland fire danger product reflects fire danger for native
grasses. It is not intended for cured agricultural crops, nor
will it reflect conditions in road ditches which have been mowed.
