Warmer with increasing humidity as we head into the second half of the week. Breezy south winds will bring increasing dew points over the next few days, resulting in afternoon humidity levels dropping to 40 to 70 percent. High temperatures will reach the 80s to mid 90s each day through the weekend. Periodic chances for showers and thunderstorms start tonight, with at least a tenth of an inch of rain likely across much of southeast South Dakota late tonight. Periods of shower and storm chances persist through the upcoming weekend, mainly focused during the nights and early mornings, but confidence in timing, locations, and rain amounts is low. The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the low category this afternoon. Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be with reasonable safety precautions, but should be monitored. OUTLOOK FOR THURSDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the low category. The grassland fire danger product reflects fire danger for native grasses. It is not intended for cured agricultural crops, nor will it reflect conditions in road ditches which have been mowed. $$
