Seasonably warm and dry conditions along with breezy south to southwest winds will lead to elevated fire danger this afternoon, mainly from south central South Dakota through the Missouri River Valley. Afternoon relative humidity levels should fall as low as 30 to 40 percent, with south to southwest winds gusting 25 to 35 mph. Locally elevated fire danger is also possible in other snow- free areas where the grasses and ground are sufficiently dry. Occasional warm and breezy days in the week ahead will support areas of elevated fire danger. These conditions are currently favored for Monday and again on Christmas Day.
