Hot, dry, and mostly sunny skies continue through Saturday and into much of Sunday. Highs in the 90s for much of the area leads to minimum humidity around 25-40% with the lowest values west of the James River. Afternoon wind gusts around 20 mph expected. Locally elevated fire conditions are possible west of the James River. Hot conditions continue Sunday and Monday. Although details are uncertain, some rain and storm chances return to the area Sunday evening and night. Additional low rain chances may continue into the early part of next week. Temperatures look to fall a bit closer to seasonal normals toward mid next week. SDZ050-161145- Gregory- ...MODERATE FIRE DANGER... The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the moderate category this afternoon. Marginal weather conditions or lowering moisture content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there is some potential for a fire to spread. Any outdoor burning should be closely monitored. OUTLOOK FOR FRIDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the low category. The grassland fire danger product reflects fire danger for native grasses.
