.DISCUSSION...
Cooling trend in temperatures will start this weekend into next
week. A cold front is pushing southeast through the area today with
it near a Baudette to Bagley to near Detroit Lakes to Wahpeton line
by 5 pm. Thunderstorms are anticipated to develop near and just
ahead of the front by late afternoon and move out by late evening.
In eastern North Dakota and far northwestern Minnesota the front and
cooler airmass has already passed, leaving this area free of any
thunderstorm concerns. Northwest winds overspreads all areas
Saturday with gusts up to 35 mph in eastern North Dakota. The next
system arriving late Sunday will bring a period of rain showers that
last into Monday afternoon. Widespread rainfall of one half inch is
expected.
RH values today will be higher than on Thursday despite warm
temperatures in the southern Red River valley as dew points
increase. Lowest RH values today will remain in the 40 to 50 percent
range. RH values will drop on Saturday into the low 30, especially
in southeastern North Dakota. Breezy winds as well, with gusts up to
35 mph.
