.DISCUSSION...
Clear and dry conditions are expected to continue through the weekend
across all fire zones. Current RH values have fallen between 25 to
30 percent at many locations though starting to see some values
closer to 20 percent. The primary fire weather concern at least
through Friday will be wind gusts. Winds remain out of the
northwest with widespread gusts of 20 to 28 MPH this afternoon.
However, there are some isolated observations reporting gusts that
exceed 30 MPH. Still largely anticipating higher gusts to be
confined to North Georgia at the highest elevations. 10-hr fuels
are beginning to dry out with values already in the 8 to 10 range
across the forecast area. Drier, cooler air will continue
funneling into the forecast area over the next 24 hrs and minimum
RH values on Friday will range from 35 to 50 percent. Cold
temperatures tonight with near freezing temperatures and potential
for snow flurries in North Georgia. No significant accumulations
expected.
