.DISCUSSION...
A Fire Danger Statement is in effect until 8 PM for portions of
northern and western Georgia for low RHs in northwestern and
western GA and gusty winds in northeastern GA, especially at
elevation.
Fuels remain dry and RHs are expected to dip into the low 30s to
20s across north and central Georgia this afternoon with
relatively clear skies and ample sunshine. A few high clouds may
impact mostly northern Georgia this afternoon, though the effects
on mixing heights and solar heating should be minimal. RHs are
expected to be a bit higher today compared to previous days thanks
to southerly 20ft winds at 7-12 mph that will bring some limited
moisture back, though strong afternoon mixing will bring drier air
down to the surface. Want to note that in the elevated areas of
north GA, winds will likely be a bit stronger and RHs may dip even
lower thanks to dry air more easily reaching down into these
areas. Mixing heights will vary across the area, ranging from 3.5
kft in the north to 6-7 kft in east central GA. Transport winds
will be from the south at 15-25 mph. Ventilation and smoke
dispersion will be excellent as a result, with ADI values from
80-120 across north and central GA for much of the afternoon.
