372 FXUS62 KFFC 010633 AFDFFC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 233 AM EDT Mon Sep 1 2025 ...Morning Area Forecast Discussion... .SHORT TERM... (Today through Tuesday) Issued at 231 AM EDT Mon Sep 1 2025 Key Messages: - Sunny and mild for most on Labor Day. - Temperatures trending warmer but still unseasonably cool. Discussion: With a broad surface high pressure system splayed across much of the Great Lakes, southern Canada, and New England, wedging of cool, continental air is in progress across much of north and central Georgia -- characteristic U-shaped isobars are seen extending as far west as Alabama. This will help keep conditions mild and mostly dry and sunny (PoPs <10%) through Tuesday for a majority of the forecast area. The exception will be for portions of far north Georgia, where convergent flow around the edge of the wedge airmass along with some orographic influence will support the development of diurnally- driven isolated (today) to scattered (tomorrow) showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two. Be cautious if attending any Labor Day festivities outdoors, as any errant storms that form (~10-15% chances, maximized between 2 and 8PM) will be capable of producing lightning and periods of heavy rainfall. Tomorrow will see a similar progression, though coverage of any convection is favored to be higher (up to 20-30% chances) and may linger longer into the evening/overnight. Temperatures will continue to moderate under a relatively stagnant airmass, topping out in the upper 70s to lower 80s today and warming by a degree or two for Tuesday. Expect lows in the mid-50s to lower 60s. 96 && .LONG TERM... (Tuesday night through Sunday) Issued at 231 AM EDT Mon Sep 1 2025 Key Messages: - Scattered showers and storms Wed/Thu, but otherwise mostly dry conditions through next weekend. - Below normal temperatures continue through next weekend. The extended forecast start of with isolated diurnally driven showers and thunderstorms Wed and Thu but that should be about it for precipitation through day 7. The 1st of two frontal boundary moves SE through the area Thu afternoon/night. This 1st front has a bit more moisture associated with it than the 2nd one but it is the beginning of the drier airmass moving into the region for the weekend. The second front pushes out of the northern plains Fri and into NW GA Sat morning. Right now the models are not showing much in the way of moisture with this front so should just see increased cloud cover as it moves through. The big thing this front brings into the area in a much drier airmass behind it. By Sun we will see dewpoints in the upper 40s and lower 50s across north GA with mostly clear skies. Temps will remain at or just below seasonal norms with highs mainly in the upper 70s to upper 80s. Night time low temps will drop down into the upper 50s to middle 60s through day 7. 01 && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 141 AM EDT Mon Sep 1 2025 VFR conds to continue thru the TAF pd.
