.DISCUSSION...
A persistent forecast holds through the long term period with mid-
level ridging remaining centered across the Four Corners into the
Texas panhandle. This ridge does gradually amplify next week and
allows for temperatures to slowly creep higher more into the upper
90s and around the 100 degree mark. However, latest guidance does
indicate that there could be enough diurnal mixing to keep those
peak heat indices similar to values we should be seeing within the
short term period. In short, the heat will be on par with or just
slightly above the average for late July standards. The forecast
otherwise remains rain free with mostly sunny and clear skies.
