791 FXUS64 KEWX 240039 AAA AFDEWX Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio TX 739 PM CDT Mon Jun 23 2025 ...New AVIATION (00Z TAFS)... .SHORT TERM... (Tonight through Tuesday night) Issued at 115 PM CDT Mon Jun 23 2025 Key Message: - Isolated showers and thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon over the Coastal Plains and I-35 Corridor. Our stagnant weather pattern will continue in the short term. An upper level ridge covers the eastern half of the country and a trough is over the west. High pressure over the Gulf has the low level flow from the southeast. This is reinforcing a warm, moist airmass over South-Central Texas. Convection is a bit suppressed today and so far is east of our CWA. We still expect a few showers or thunderstorms to move into our Coastal Plains counties later this afternoon, but it shouldn`t last into the evening. Tonight should be a lot like the past few nights with increasing cloudiness from the southeast spreading to the northwest. This will keep temperatures warm with lows mostly in the 70s. There won`t be any significant changes Tuesday. The southeasterly flow will continue with a slight chance for convection from the Coastal Plains to I-35 during the afternoon. High temperatures will be near normal again. Tuesday night will be a repeat of tonight. It`s a typical summer pattern. && .LONG TERM... (Wednesday through Monday) Issued at 115 PM CDT Mon Jun 23 2025 Key Message: -Low rain chances across the coastal plains and I-35 corridor Wednesday, with low rain chances continuing over the coastal plains into early next week. Ridging over the eastern US and troughing over the west will be in place Wednesday with southeasterly flow over South Central Texas. Similar to previous days, precipitation chances remain over the coastal plains into the I-35 corridor through the early evening. Low precipitation chances remain into early next week over the coastal plains, but should see slightly drier and warmer conditions Thursday and beyond as mid-level ridging shifts closer to our area. Highs creep back up into the mid to upper 90s this weekend with triple digit temperatures along the Rio Grande. Lows will mainly be in the 70s each night. && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 638 PM CDT Mon Jun 23 2025 Wash, rinse, repeat. Expect MVFR ceilings to return once again after midnight and to continue through mid morning before returning to VFR. Winds may remain somewhat elevated through late this evening, but should fall off to less than 5 kts at all locations except DRT. Winds will pick back up by mid morning Tuesday with VFR ceilings. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
