  moderate flood stage.

- A benign weather pattern for the week ahead with seasonable to
  slightly above average temperatures and rain free conditions.

Mid-level ridging centered across the Four Corners into the Texas
and Oklahoma panhandles will remain the dominant weather feature in
the short term and beyond. This and a light to moderate southerly
low-level flow will result in a seasonably hot and humid weather
pattern this weekend. Highs trend in the mid to upper 90s and
overnight lows in the mid 70s for the majority of the region. Heat
indices peak in the 100 to 106 degree range along the I-35 corridor
east through the Coastal Plains and for locations along the Rio
Grande. The short term period likely sees slightly more cloud cover
compared to the long term below given residual area soil moisture
from recent rains. This would include the formation of some low
stratus into the early to mid-morning period before eroding into
partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies in the afternoon.

The mid-level ridging will keep a persistent forecast in place for
all of next week with continued rain free and hot weather across
South-Central Texas. The ridge does slowly amplify and slightly
nudge southward with time. This helps to tick the temperatures
upward by a few degrees by the end of the week. However, afternoon
heat indices don`t budge much compared to the values within the
short term as diurnal mixing becomes a little more efficient. We`ll
monitor those temperature and dew point trends, but for now the
conditions are a little shy of the heat advisory criteria mid to
late next week. Otherwise, a light to moderate south-southeasterly
flow maintains under mostly sunny/clear skies.

Clouds continue to scatter with VFR conditions expected for the
afternoon and evening. South to southeasterly wind will generally be
around 8-12 knots through the evening becoming lighter overnight.
MVFR ceilings likely develop for SAT/SSF later tonight through
Sunday morning, with less confidence if any BKN low ceilings impact
KAUS. KDRT is expected to remain VFR.
