...El Paso Area Weather Forecast Office Service Update...

The National Weather Service El Paso Area Forecast Office in Santa
Teresa, New Mexico will be conducting a required, scheduled
update to their Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System
(AWIPS) system from Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 7:00 AM through
approximately Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 5pm. The NWS uses the AWIPS
computer system to display and integrate weather and water
information, and to send life-saving information, such as weather
and water warnings, to the public.

During the time of the update, forecast operations will be conducted
by our service back-up office in Albuquerque, New Mexico to minimize
any potential interruption to services. No impacts to our core
services of forecast products and weather watches, warnings and
advisories are expected during this period. However, limited
impacts will occur to the following services:

* NOAA Weather Radio Transmitters: All NOAA Weather Radio
  Transmitters maintained by NWS El Paso will be off the air
  through the time of the install. This includes the following
  transmitters in New Mexico and Texas: El Paso, El Paso Spanish
  Language, Las Cruces, and Silver City.

* Some local graphical forecast maps that are hosted in numerous
  place on www.weather.gov/epz will not be updated during the time
  of the install. Some graphics produced by other means will
  continue to be updated on the website.

The forecast office in El Paso TX/Santa Teresa NM will remain open
and staffed throughout this period for public and partner phone
calls and additional functions that can be completed without
AWIPS.
