830 FNUS54 KEPZ 111230 FWFEPZ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for New Mexico and Far West Texas National Weather Service El Paso TX/Santa Teresa NM 630 AM MDT Tue Mar 11 2025 ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM MDT THIS EVENING... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING... .DISCUSSION... Critical fire weather condition will prevail through the early evening hours today due to the combination of RH values in the single digits over the lowlands with lower teens in the mountains, and breezy to windy conditions across a large portion of the area. A Red Flag Warning will go in effect from noon through 8pm today. Min RH values will rebound on Wednesday into the lower 20s behind the first of several Pacific systems that will move through the Borderland and bring a chance for mountain snow showers and lowland rain showers. Min RH values will again dip into the teens from Deming eastward with Min RH values in the 20s elsewhere. Windy to very windy west to southwest winds will lead to elevated to near critical weather conditions to the area. Another Pacific system will push through the area area bringing chances for snow showers in the mountains and showers in the lowlands on Friday.Temperatures will fluctuate through the week with the warmest temperatures today and Thursday with 10-15 degree drops in temperatures on Wednesday and Friday. Another shortwave embedded in northwest flow will bring a chance of snow showers to the mountains and rain showers to the lowlands leading to rebound of Min RH values into the 20s in the lowlands and 30s in the mountain areas. && ...Percentages shown in the sky/weather portion reflect sky cover amount... ...Mean elevations used to obtain mixing heights as follows: Zone 110 - Reserve (5900 ft) Zone 111 - Deming (4300 ft) Zone 112 - Las Cruces(3900 ft) Zone 113 - Ruidoso (6900 ft) Ventilation categories are determined by criteria established by the state of New Mexico.
