...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM MDT THIS MORNING...
...REPLACES FLASH FLOOD WARNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring.

* WHERE...South-central Luna County in Southern New Mexico.

* WHEN...Until 900 AM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Deep standing water and flooding of low-lying and poor
  drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 653 AM MDT, Heavy rainfall of over 3 inches occurred just
    east and south of Columbus village during the predawn hours.
    While rainfall has diminished, areas of flooding remain due
    to the slowly draining terrain in the area. At 740 AM, county
    dispatchers reported water 2 feet deep just north of the
    Columbus Palomas Port of Entry. Water was also flowing across
    Highway 11 between mile markers 1 and 2. Deep water was also
    reported near mile marker 93 on Highway 9 just east of
    Columbus.
  - Rainfall amounts over the village of Columbus were much
    lower, though over 1.20 inches was recorded at Pancho Villa
    State Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
