The National Weather Service in El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southwestern Sierra County in south central New Mexico...
* Until 745 PM MDT.
* At 442 PM MDT, Slow moving thunderstorms have produced additional
heavy rainfall between the crest of the Black Range and Highway 27
in the Lake Valley area. Several low water crossings along highway
27 are likely to become dangerously inundated soon.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Lake Valley. Portions of State Highway 27 between Lake Valley and
south of Hillsboro.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
