...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 745 PM MDT THIS
EVENING FOR SOUTH CENTRAL GRANT AND EAST CENTRAL HIDALGO COUNTIES...
At 513 PM MDT, gauge reports indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across the warned area near Hachita. Between 2.5 and 3 inches of
rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 to 3 inches in 1
hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Gauges reported.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Hachita, Hachita Valley and Big Hatchet Refuge.
Portions of state Highway 9 and 81 may become inundated, even in
areas not typically prone to flooding.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
