Potential for heavy amounts of rain increases late Thursday night into Friday afternoon as a frontal system approaches the coast. Chance for 0.25 inches or more in 6 hours increases to 40% by 5 AM Friday, 50% by 11 AM Friday and 65% by 5 PM. Highest chance for over 0.50 inches in 6 hours is expected from 11 AM to 11 PM Friday. Storm total rainfall from 5 AM Friday to 11 AM Saturday will range from 1.00-1.50 inches in the higher terrain and western slopes to 0.50 to 0.80 inches in the lower elevations and valleys. Light showers may continue through the day on Saturday, followed by a break Saturday night and most of Sunday. There is greater uncertainty with another round of rain and perhaps high mountain snow Sunday evening through Monday night. Chance for over 0.5 inches of rain in 24 hours with this second, potentially colder storm is about 60%.
