...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING FOR
ABUNDANT DRY LIGHTNING ACROSS THE INTERIOR MOUNTAINS...
.DISCUSSION...Conditions will remain hot and dry with highs in
the mid 90s and minimum RH around 20-25 percent today and
Wednesday. Enhanced instability will again bring potential for
scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Storms will
most likely be mostly stationary or slow moving and are most
likely over southern Trinity and northern Mendocino Counties.
While storms are likely to produce some rain, fire starts remain
likely due to lightning around the edges of storms. Isolated
thunderstorm activity will be possible again Wednesday afternoon
over mostly eastern Trinity and far NE Mendocino County.
Otherwise, cooler temperatures and breezy westerly and
northwesterly winds are expected for Thursday and Friday.
