...ELEVATED TO LOCALLY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR THE
INTERIOR TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY...
.DISCUSSION...Warm and dry conditions continue today as a shallow
marine layer remains in place. Interior high temperatures are
forecast to be in the 90s to just over 100, while afternoon RHs
trend upwards into the teens and 20s. Breezy onshore winds return
starting this afternoon, and could be especially breezy in Lake,
eastern Mendocino, and eastern Trinity Counties. This will
bring elevated to locally critical fire weather conditions this
afternoon and evening. Troughing will bring cooler weather Friday
into the weekend with a weak front possibly bringing wetting rain
to Del Norte and northern Humboldt Counties Saturday. Onshore
winds will be especially strong Saturday with gusts of 25 to 35
mph, however afternoon RH will rise into the 20s to 40s with a
deeper marine layer. Locally critical fire weather conditions are
likely in Lake, eastern Mendocino, and eastern Trinity County with
these winds as RH rises will be slower. A warming trend back to
near-normal arrives early next week.
