134 NOUS43 KEAX 052041 PNSEAX KSZ025-057-060-102>105-MOZ001>008-011>017-020>025-028>033-037>040- 043>046-053-054-060845- Public Information Statement National Weather Service Kansas City/Pleasant Hill MO 341 PM CDT Thu Jun 5 2025 The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill MO will be conducting a required, scheduled update to their Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) system from 7 am Monday June 9th through approximately 4 pm Wednesday June 11th. The NWS uses the AWIPS computer system to display and integrate weather and water information, and to send life-saving information, such as weather and water warnings, to the public. During the time of the update, forecast operations will be conducted by our service back-up office in Saint Louis MO to minimize any potential interruption to services. No impacts to our core services of forecast products and weather watches, warnings and advisories are expected during this period. However, limited impacts will occur to the following services: NOAA Weather Transmitters: All NOAA Weather Radio transmitters maintained by NWS Kansas City/Pleasant Hill will be off air through the time of the install. This includes the following transmitters in Kansas and Missouri: Kansas City, St. Joseph, Lancaster, La Plata, Clinton, Carrollton, Maryville, Trenton, Cameron, and Parker. Local products and graphical forecast maps that are hosted in numerous places on www.weather.gov/eax may not be updated. This includes all maps on the Graphical Hazardous Weather Outlook page (https://www.weather.gov/erh/ghwo?wfo=eax). The KEAX radar will remain operational, and its products will continue to be distributed as normal. However, the TMCI radar data will be unavailable for the duration of this upgrade. The forecast office in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill MO will remain open and staffed throughout this period for public and partner phone calls and additional functions that can be completed without AWIPS. $$
