...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 AM CDT THIS
MORNING FOR JOHNSON COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL KANSAS, SOUTHEASTERN
LEAVENWORTH AND WYANDOTTE COUNTIES IN NORTHEASTERN KANSAS AND
SOUTHWESTERN CLAY, WESTERN JACKSON AND SOUTHEASTERN PLATTE COUNTIES
IN WEST CENTRAL MISSOURI...

At 506 AM CDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms
producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 6 inches
of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 to 2.5 inches
in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible
in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.

SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
         urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Kansas City, Overland Park, Olathe, Shawnee, Lenexa, Leawood,
  Liberty, Gladstone, Grandview, Prairie Village, Gardner, Lansing,
  Merriam, Mission, Bonner Springs, De Soto, Parkville, Spring Hill,
  Basehor and Edwardsville.

Water has been reported over several highways in the KC Metro
including at I-70 and Broadway and I-35 and Lamar.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
