Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0259 PM CDT Mon Sep 29 2025

Valid 301200Z - 011200Z

...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

No changes were needed to the Day 2 outlook, with minimal fire
weather concerns across the contiguous U.S. A strengthening lee
trough across southern Alberta will promote increasing south to
southwest winds across the Northern Plains on Tuesday. South to
southwest winds of 15-20 mph, with some downslope enhancement and
drying off the Central Rockies are expected over the Black Hills
region and adjacent plains. Deeper moisture will be shunted a bit
farther east of the Black Hills with minimum relative humidity
falling below 25% in some areas. Locally elevated fire weather
conditions can be expected Tuesday afternoon across western NE and
far northeastern CO.

...Synopsis...
Fire weather concerns appear limited for Tuesday across the country.
Upper-level troughing will become more predominant across the
Pacific Northwest over the next 48 hours. This will maintain a
west/southwest flow regime over the northern Rockies and aid in the
strengthening of a surface low over the northern High Plains. Winds
will likely increase to 15-20 mph across much of the Dakotas as the
low intensifies through the day. However, returning moisture will
likely continue to limit RH reductions with the driest solutions
suggesting RH reductions may only reach near 30%.
