Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1252 AM CST Fri Nov 07 2025

Valid 081200Z - 091200Z

...Synopsis...
A potent mid-level shortwave trough is expected to dig across the
central CONUS during the day on Saturday, pushing a strong cold
front southward across the Plains. Behind the front, strong winds to
25-30 mph (locally up to 35 mph) are currently expected across
portions of the central high plains along with RH near 15-20% and
pockets of dry fuels and cured grasses. For these reasons, have
introduced an Elevated risk for fire weather across portions of the
area.

Additionally, some risk for fire weather may occur across portions
of the southern Texas Panhandle and west Texas, where fuels are
drier. However, lower wind speeds and higher RH along with the
potential for high-level clouds reduce confidence in any fire
weather risk here, and therefore have declined to introduce any
highlights in this area in this outlook.
