Day 1 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1153 AM CDT Mon Oct 06 2025

Valid 061700Z - 071200Z

...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

Fire weather concerns remain minimal and localized across the
contiguous U.S. through tonight. See previous forecast.

...Cascades...
Locally elevated fire weather conditions attributed to dry, easterly
flow over the Cascades are possible today as a thermal trough
remains along the West Coast. Stronger sustained east winds around
20 mph through favored Cascade gaps and relative humidity below 20%
could align, where fuels remain relatively dry.

...New England...
Near record setting warmth across New England within dry
southwesterly flow ahead of a cold front is expected through this
afternoon. Broader scale southwest winds should remain at 10 mph or
less, but localized terrain influenced flow of 15 mph, along with
relative humidity around 25% and dry fuels could bring localized
elevated fire weather threats to the region.

...Synopsis...
Fire-weather concerns are low today and tonight. A broad upper
trough over the northern US will help force a cold front south over
the Plains. The cold front will favor cooler and more moist surface
conditions over much of the region while elsewhere, surface high
pressure will limit surface winds over the eastern US where dry
conditions are expected. Aside from some intermittent easterly flow
through the Cascade Gaps, surface winds over much of the US will be
poorly aligned with dry fuels and low humidity. Additional wetting
rainfall behind the advancing cold front will limit available fuels
precluding fire-weather concerns.
