Southerly winds will become gusty by this afternoon, especially along and west of the Mississippi River where gusts to 30 mph are expected. These winds coupled with dry vegetation and warmer temperatures will lead to very high fire danger for parts of eastern Iowa. The gusty winds will continue area-wide on Sunday, particularly in the morning. Lower end wetting rain chances (20-40%) will develop later tonight into Sunday, especially north/east of the Quad Cities. Very high fire danger will return for the entire region on Monday in the wake of a cold front, as northwest winds will turn gusty to around 40 mph. The Grassland Fire Danger Index -GFDI- does not account for precipitation that occurs or any snow on the ground. Please make appropriate adjustments. .REST OF TODAY...
