The National Weather Service in Quad Cities has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southeastern Benton County in east central Iowa...
  Northwestern Johnson County in east central Iowa...
  Southern Linn County in east central Iowa...

* Until 145 AM CDT.

* At 749 PM CDT, trained weather spotters reported thunderstorms
  producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2
  inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
  to begin shortly. There are reports of roads inundated with water,
  making travel difficult, particularly along Edgewood Road, as well
  as local creeks beginning to overflow their banks.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Trained spotters reported.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, Robins, Fairfax, Ely, Atkins,
  Walford, Palo, Swisher, Shueyville, Bertram, Cedar Rapids
  Municipal Airport, Morgan Creek Park, Squaw Creek Park,
  Palisades-Kepler State Park and Marion Airport.

This includes Interstate 380 between mile markers 10 and 28.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
