...HEAT ADVISORY IS CANCELLED...

A slow moving cold front will move into the area this afternoon. It
will bring a little cooler daytime highs, mid to upper 80s. While
this will still result in a hot and humid day, overall heat indices
are forecast to remain below 95 degrees today, with a more notable
cooling trend expected this evening.

...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...This will be the 4th consecutive day of dangerously hot
  conditions. Heat indices are forecast to range from 98 to 102
  degrees.

* WHERE...Genesee, Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne Counties.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
  extreme heat and high humidity events.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Thunderstorms are forecast this afternoon and
  evening which will bring some relief from the heat.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates.

Check with local emergency management officials for information on
cooling center availability.
