Weather Summary for Iowa
National Weather Service Des Moines IA
305 AM CST Fri Nov 22 2024

Today:

The state was divided by clouds overnight with western Iowa seeing
clear skies. However, the eastern two-thirds of the state saw cloudy
skies which kept temperatures warmer early this morning. Readings were
mainly in the 30s where skies remained cloudy early this morning while
clear areas had dropped into the mid 20s. Winds remained northwest at
around 10 mph.

Clouds will linger across about the eastern half of Iowa for a good
portion of the day before some clearing occurs. Farther west, more
sunshine is anticipated. The clouds in the east keep temperatures in
the 30s but the sun in the west helps push readings into the low to
mid 40s.

Tonight and beyond:

Relatively quiet weather is expected from tonight into the weekend.
Winds are forecast to be light into tonight with some patchy fog
possible across the state. As high pressure moves east of the state on
Saturday, winds from the south increase help temperatures return to
the 40s and 50s for daytime highs during the weekend. A cold front
passes through the state late Sunday with colder Canadian arriving for
early next week. In fact, for much of the upcoming holiday week,
temperatures are expected to be below normal with only limited chances
for precipitation at this time.
