Today:

Sky conditions across Iowa early this morning varied from mostly
clear southwest to cloudy northeast, but there was no precipitation.
Temperatures heading toward daybreak varied from the lower 30s
northwest to the lower 40s south. Winds were generally from the east
or southeast at 10 mph or less.

The forecast for today is dry and warm with variable cloudiness.
Temperatures should reach 40 to 50 by late morning, heading toward
afternoon highs in the 40s north and 50s south which will be the
warmest readings for at least a while. Winds will be variable, but
staying at speeds of 10 mph or less.

Tonight and beyond:

Clouds will be on the increase across the region tonight with areas of
fog or drizzle possible north and east. Lows should vary from the 20s
northwest to 40s southeast. Monday will start out cloudy as well
before clearing later in the afternoon, but the main theme will be
cooler temperatures and brisk northwest winds. Winds may gust as high
as 20 to 30 mph with highs from the upper 20s in the Siouxland area to
the middle 40s from Missouri into western Illinois.

The precipitation outlook for the Thanksgiving holiday is somewhat
uncertain with chances for light snow north Wednesday and Wednesday
night, light rain or light snow over southern Iowa and adjacent
states to the west and east, and light rain into Missouri.
Precipitation trends over the weekend will be better known in the
coming days, but the main theme will be much colder temperatures with
weekend highs no better than the teens and 20s, and lows in the single
digits north and teens south.
