.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 129 PM CDT Mon Apr 7 2025

Continued CAA over Lake Superior will cause the light snow over
Iron County to linger throughout the rest of today and tonight.
Drier air moving into the region since this morning will limit
any accumulations from a trace to less than an inch. For
Tuesday, drier air and a change in flow to the southwest will
cut off any additional lake effect snow.

A high pressure will settle over the Northland for Tuesday
along with dry air throughout the vertical column. This will
lead to RHs in ranging 15-25% across much of the region. Near
critical fire weather conditions are expected with these values,
though winds will remain light.

A small shortwave will bring chances for precipitation on
Wednesday. Precipitation will initially fall as rain/snow mix,
but warming surface temperatures throughout the day will cause
it to transition to rain throughout the afternoon with the
exception of the Arrowhead, which could remain as snow or
rain/snow mix with temperatures only getting into the mid 30s.
This persistence for snowfall could lead to up to an inch of
snowfall in the Arrowhead by Thursday morning.

Any accumulating snow will not last long, however. Temperatures
will continue to increase throughout the end of the week,
with above normal temperatures for the weekend in the 50s and
60s. Otherwise, we settle underneath a ridge until early next
week, where another large clipper is on the horizon.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z TUESDAY/...
Issued at 1226 PM CDT Mon Apr 7 2025

VFR conditions expected for the 24 hour period. Scattered cloud
cover near HYR will dissipate as dry air cuts off moisture being
advected from Lake Superior. Gusty winds will decrease
throughout the day as a high pressure approaches, and light and
variable winds will continue into tomorrow.

.MARINE /FOR NEAR SHORE WATERS OF WESTERN LAKE SUPERIOR/...
Issued at 129 PM CDT Mon Apr 7 2025

Northerly winds will decrease tonight as pressure gradients
relax with the departing low pressure system. Light and variable
winds will switch to out of the southeast Tuesday and will
remain less than 15 kts under a high pressure system. Light
mixed precipitation and elevated winds are expected for
Wednesday with another small system, and winds are close to
exceeding 22 kts. A Small Craft Advisory may be needed.
