A high pressure approaches the Northland today under an upper
level ridge as winds continue to decrease throughout the day.
Widespread freezing temperatures are expected tonight as clear
skies promote fast radiational cooling. Dry conditions are
expected to continue into Tuesday for most of the area, but a
weak shortwave climbing up and over the ridge may bring chances
for light rain across northwest Wisconsin. The rain will likely
not make it to the ground at the onset of precipitation as dry
low level air will lead to virga. Any accumulations will be
light, less than a tenth of an inch.

Temperatures will increase once again starting Wednesday as the
high pressure exits the area and flow again switches to the
southeast. A low level jet will once again transport warm,
moist air to the Upper Midwest and more widespread chances for
precipitation will move through on Thursday with a warm front.
Chances for precipitation will continue into the weekend in the
warm sector of the low that will linger over southern Manitoba.
Friday night, the cold front will move through, but wrap around
showers will continue through the rest of the weekend under
northwest flow and a strong upper level low that lingers north
of Minnesota. Near normal temperatures will then return for the
latter half of the weekend and into early next week.

VFR conditions prevail until about 23z today, followed by rain
showers and MVFR conditions spreading into the area from the
south ahead of an approaching low pressure system. Rain showers
will be possible after 23z for KBRD and KHYR with VFR ceilings,
followed by MVFR ceilings through the end of the TAF period.
KDLH, KHIB and KINL will remain VFR. East to southeast winds of
5 kts or less are expected through the TAF period.

.MARINE /FOR NEAR SHORE WATERS OF WESTERN LAKE SUPERIOR/...

Elevated winds continue through this afternoon before decreasing
from an approaching high pressure. Far northern portions of the
North Shore and waters around the Apostle Islands will continue
to have elevated winds and waves that will be hazardous to small
craft. Winds will become light over the lake for Tuesday before
slight chances for rain arrive along the South Shore.
