175 NOUS43 KDDC 021832 PNSDDC KSZ030-031-043>046-061>066-074>081-084>090-030645- Public Information Statement National Weather Service Dodge City KS 132 PM CDT Mon Jun 2 2025 /1232 PM MDT Mon Jun 2 2025/ The National Weather Service office in Dodge City, Kansas will be conducting a required, scheduled update to their Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) system from Monday 9 June 2025 through approximately Wednesday 11 June 2025. The NWS uses the AWIPS computer system to display and integrate weather and water information, and to send life-saving information, such as weather and water warnings, to the public. During the time of the update, forecast operations will be conducted by our service back-up office in Wichita, Kansas along with remote support from NWS Dodge City to minimize any potential interruption to services. No impacts to our core services of forecast products and weather watches, warnings and advisories are expected during this period. The KDDC WSR-88Dradar will remain operational and its products will continue to be distributed as normal. The NWS Wichitaoffice will remain open and staffed at all hours throughout this update period to answer public and partner phone calls, and additional functions that can be completed while our AWIPS is upgraded. Whenever there are periods of planned or unplanned outages it is important to have multiple ways to receive warning information. These alternative sources include: local television/radio, Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) on your mobile device along with other weather apps, such as the FEMA or Red Cross App, and at the NWS website at(weather.gov/ddc/). However, limited impacts will occur to the following services: 1: NOAA Weather Transmitters: All NOAA Weather Radio transmitters maintained by NWS Dodge City will be off air through the time of the install. A listing of NOAA Weather Radio transmitters that will be impacted can be found at(weather.gov/nwr/wfo_list?WFO=DDC). 2: Local graphical forecast maps that are hosted in numerous places on (www.weather.gov/ddc) will not be updated. The forecast office in Dodge City Kansas will remain open and staffed throughout this period for public and partner phone calls and additional functions that can be completed without AWIPS.
