Dry conditions are expected through tomorrow with increased high
level cloudiness after midnight through sunrise. The only exception
to this will be across west central Kansas where an isolated
thunderstorm will be possible late this afternoon into early this
evening. All other activity should remain well north of the area. An
upper level shortwave will then move through the area tomorrow night
increasing lift across the area. Cloudiness will increase in
coverage tomorrow afternoon with mostly cloudy skies overnight. Some
thunderstorms will develop across eastern Colorado tomorrow
afternoon and sweep across the forecast area overnight. Any
lingering storms will be confined to central Kansas Friday morning.
Winds through this period will be from the southeast through
tomorrow morning, then shift to the south for the remainder of the
day. As for temperatures, highs this afternoon will generally be in
the 90s with around 100 degrees across far western Kansas. Lows
tonight are expected to range from the mid 60s north to low 70s
along the KS/OK border and far southwestern Kansas. Highs tomorrow
will range from the low 90s along the I-70 corridor to low 100s
across far southwestern Kansas. Lows tomorrow night are expected to
range from the mid 60s across west central Kansas to mid 70s across
south central Kansas.

The remainder of the forecast looks dry as a strong upper level high
anchors itself over the Central Rockies and Central Plains. Well
above normal temperatures are expected during this period. Highs
will reach into the 90s Friday with upper 90s to low 100s expected
for the remainder of the forecast. Chances are high that heat
headlines will need to be issued this weekend into early next week.
Lows will generally be in the upper 60s to upper 70s.
