Day 3-8 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0450 PM CDT Sun Oct 05 2025

Valid 071200Z - 131200Z

...Eastern U.S....
A mid-level trough and attendant surface cold front are expected to
push through the Great Lakes into the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic
regions through midweek. A plume of richer Gulf moisture will
support heavier rainfall totals ahead of the cold front along the
Ohio River Valley and Appalachians, while lighter but still wetting
rains along the cold front across much of the Atlantic States
through Wednesday. This should result in an overall mitigation of
fire weather concerns. Cooler and dry conditions with mainly light
winds move into much of the eastern U.S. as surface high pressure
slides into the New England region through late week.

...Western U.S....
Increasing southwest flow aloft ahead of a mid-level trough
approaching the Pacific Northwest and a weakening coastal thermal
trough will ameliorate recent dry conditions along and west of the
Cascades by midweek. Dry and breezy conditions across the Desert
Southwest on Day 4/Wednesday but expected unreceptive fuels should
limit fire weather potential. Forecast uncertainty increases beyond
midweek regarding evolution of upper trough/low impacting the
Northwest. However, fuels across the West remain relatively benign
which should limit overall fire weather potential.
