Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southeast Wyoming/Western Nebraska
National Weather Service CHEYENNE WY
1230 PM MDT Thu Sep 19 2024

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM MDT FRIDAY
.DISCUSSION...

Elevated fire weather conditions are expected late this
week as a slight warming trend is forecast for southeast Wyoming and
western Nebraska. Dry airmass will remain over the area, but current
model trends suggests winds will struggle to reach criteria as high
pressure aloft builds over the Front Range. The best day to see near
critical fire weather conditions will be Friday. Confidence has
slowly increased for minimum humidity and wind speeds to reach
critical thresholds for Converse, Niobrara, North Platte, North
Goshen, and Northeast Carbon County where Red Flag Warnings are in
effect. Otherwise, a much cooler and wetter pattern is expected
this weekend as a Pacific upper level low moves eastward near the
Colorado/Wyoming border.
