.DISCUSSION...
Widespread strong winds are ongoing and will continue through the
day today. Expect gusts up to 90 mph along the eastern side of area
mountain ranges. Other areas of southeast Wyoming can expect gusts
of 65 to 75 mph. Nebraska can expect gusts of 55 to 65 mph. Winds will
shift to the northwest as a front passes through this afternoon
or evening. Scattered rain and snow showers will move through along
this boundary, but wetting rainfall or accumulating snow is unlikely.
Expect a break in winds this evening into Wednesday morning, but
another round of strong winds will pick up mid Wednesday morning
and last into Wednesday night. This event will be more confined to
Wyoming along and west of I-25. Thursday could bring some elevated
fire weather concerns with strong, gusty westerly winds and temperatures
surging well above average for this time of year. RH will remain
above critical, but values around 25% could be a concern collocated
with strong winds in areas that have lost their snow cover.
