Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southeast Wyoming/Western Nebraska
National Weather Service CHEYENNE WY
136 AM MDT Sat Jul 5 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Elevated to near critical fire weather conditions expected today west of
the Laramie Range, especially across Carbon County. Afternoon relative
humidity values will drop into the 13 to 16 percent range with winds
occasionally gusting to around 25 to 27 mph. Wyoming fire weather zones
423 and 427 will be especially impacted by the dry air and gusty winds.
However, confidence is low in these two zones seeing three consecutive
hours of critical criteria, so did not issued a Red Flag Warning at this
time due to this uncertainty. Continued elevated to near critical fire
weather conditions expected Sunday through mid-week in the same locations
due to hot afternoon temperatures, gusty winds, and little moisture. No
fire weather concerns expected for locations east of the Laramie Range due
to afternoon minimum relative humidity values remaining above critical
thresholds and less gusty winds. Additionally, daily afternoon shower and
thunderstorm chances persist through much of the week, further diminishing
the fire weather threat.
