Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service State College PA
1032 PM EST Tue Feb 4 2025

A winter storm will bring a mix of liquid and frozen
precipitation to much of Pennsylvania late Wednesday into
Thursday, with the potential for slippery travel. A period of snow
is possible during the day on Wednesday with localized amounts
over 2 inches possible to the east of the Alleghenies. The snow
will begin to mix with sleet and freezing rain Wednesday evening.
By early Thursday morning, rain will be the main precipitation
type in southwestern PA, while freezing rain and sleet continue to
the east. Almost all of the Commonwealth will see at least light
ice accumulation, though the highest amounts are expected across
the Laurel Highlands where a quarter to half of an inch of ice
will be possible. Elsewhere, ice accumulations will be less than
two tenths of an inch.

Gusty winds on Thursday may knock down ice covered tree branches
and power lines which could lead to power outages. As temperatures
begin to rise on Thursday, any lingering precipitation will
largely fall as rain. Temperatures will climb into the 40s on
Thursday afternoon, helping melt any remaining ice accumulation.
Another storm may impact the Commonwealth this weekend with
another round of mixed precipitation.
