Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service State College PA
407 AM EDT Sat Jul 18 2026

The wildfire smoke will lift to the northeast this morning and be
largely out of the state this afternoon, hanging on longest in
the northeast.

A warm front will lift north through the state during the day
followed by a strong cold front later in the evening and
overnight. Showers and thunderstorms will be developing throughout
the state during the day, becoming more widespread in the
afternoon and evening. Some of these storms will be capable of
causing damaging winds, hail, and even a few tornadoes. Highs will
be in the upper 70s to upper 80s.

The storms will weaken as we lose heating of the day, but may take
until midnight to die away while moving to the south. The cold
front will clear out the humidity from the north by morning. Lows
will be in the mid 50s in the northern mountains, but still 65 to
70 degrees south of the Turnpike.

Sunday will be cooler and rain-free. Highs will be in the lower
70s to mid 80s with refreshingly lower humidity. While some smoke
from the fires to our west will probably slide back into the
state, the smoke is not expected to be as dense as it has been
the last couple days.
