Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service State College PA
604 AM EDT Tue Jul 29 2025

Sweltering heat and oppressive humidity will close out one of the
warmest starts to the summer season on record across most of
Pennsylvania.

Highs today and Wednesday will be in the upper 80s to mid 90s and
could challenge daily records in some locations. Heat indices
will reach or exceed the century mark across parts of the Keystone
state with a heat advisory in effect.

The majority of the Commonwealth will stay rain-free through
tonight. However, isolated thunderstorms are possible mainly over
parts of southwestern Pennsylvania this afternoon.

Coverage and intensity of thunderstorms will increase through
midweek. Isolated severe wind gusts and locally heavy rainfall
are possible in the strongest storms on Wednesday afternoon.
There is an elevated risk of flash flooding near and to the
southeast of the I-81 corridor Thursday into Thursday night.

A significant pattern shift will deliver a prolonged stretch of
comfortably cooler and refreshingly less humid conditions to start
the month of August.
