Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service State College PA
621 AM EST Fri Nov 22 2024

Quite intense surface low pressure will take an unusual track
westward from the Lower Hudson Valley before drifting south across
Northeastern Pennsylvania this afternoon. This weather feature
will combine with upper level low pressure tracking east across
the region to bring widespread wet snow of varying intensity in
the Valleys with periods of moderate to heavy snow across the
Mountains North and East of Williamsport and similarly across the
Laurel Highlands of Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Snowfall amounts across the bulk of Central PA will range from 1
to 3 inches, with heavy amounts in excess of 8 inches falling
across the higher terrain of North-central and Southwestern PA.
The weight of the heavier snow amounts could cause downed trees
and power outages.

A period of wet snow will be possible in valley locations of
Southern Pennsylvania this Friday morning before transitioning
back to rain or a rain/wet snow mix during the afternoon hours.

Temperatures to start the day will vary from the mid 20s across
the Laurel Highlands to the mid 30s over the greater Philadelphia
area.

High temperatures today will range from the mid-30s across the
Endless Mountains to the mid-40s near Lake Erie.

Precipitation will taper off this weekend, as the previously
mentioned storm moves away from the area. However, temperatures
will remain chilly, with highs remaining mostly in the 30s and
40s.
