Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central Pennsylvania
National Weather Service State College, PA
217 PM EDT Sat Apr 19 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Moisture and warm air pooling ahead of a cold front dropping
across Lake Erie this afternoon will provide fuel for numerous
showers and thunderstorms today. Most of the rain will be
north and west of an Altoona to Bloomsburg line. Some of the
storms may turn severe with damaging winds and hail.

Even outside of the impacts from the thunderstorms, the
pressure gradient wind will frequently gust between 25 and
30 MPH late this morning and this afternoon.

Behind the cold front, lingering showers will stay over the
southern tier in the evening.

Sunday will be cooler and generally dry with variable
amounts of clouds. The wind will be out of the northwest at
5 to 15 MPH. RH values could dip below 30 percent Sunday
afternoon.

The next round of scattered showers and thunderstorms will
arrive Monday and last into Monday night. The RH will only
dip to the 40s Monday afternoon.
