Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central Pennsylvania
National Weather Service State College, PA
318 AM EDT Mon Aug 11 2025

.DISCUSSION...

The dominant area of high pressure at the surface and aloft
that`s given us an extensive string of dry weather with light
wind has shifted just east of the Mid Atlantic Coast.

A deepening south to southwesterly flow will develop for
today and Tuesday, leading to a several degree rise in
temperatures and a noticeable uptick in humidity.

Min Relative Humidity values this afternoon will be in the
40s across the northern half of PA and 50 to 55 percent in
the south. Some locations across the Central and Northwest
Mountains could still see min RHs in the upper 30s this
afternoon.

This heat and humidity will prime the airmass for a few
showers and thunderstorms Tuesday night and Wednesday, along
and ahead of a cold frontal passage.

Following the front, dry and less humid conditions will
return for Thursday and Friday.
