.DISCUSSION...
A combination of moderate winds, low relative humidity values, and
dry fuels will lead to an elevated fire weather day today. Good
relative humidity recovery is expected tonight with the maximum
relative humidity values to be near 100 percent. Wednesday will be
another elevated fire day as the minimum relative humidity values
fall to 5 to 15 percent in the Brush Country with temperatures
approaching 100F.
Critically low relative humidity values are expected through this
weekend with relative humidity as low as 9-12% across the Brush
Country and 15-35% across the Coastal Plains and Victoria
Crossroads. The Texas A&M Forest Service (TFS) is forecasting Energy
Release Component values across the Brush Country to rise above the
90th percentile this week increasing above the 97th percentile by
the weekend. A similar Energy Release Component is also forecast for
the Coastal Plains and Victoria Crossroads with the only difference
being that values this weekend will be well above the 97th
percentile and expected to be above the historical maximum values
for this time of the year. The only positive factor of the forecast
is that winds are expected to remain below 20 mph through this
weekend which should help limit the fire spread. Therefore, elevated
to critical fire weather conditions are expected through this
weekend.
