.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 329 PM CDT Tue Aug 18 2026

As if you didn`t know already, it is going to be a very hot period
through next week for South Texas. A high that is located around the
Four Corners region, will meander south-southeastwards slightly by
next week. This will promote very dry rain free conditions outside
of occasional isolated seabreeze convection daily. Will continue to
monitor the need for short-fused heat related products. We could see
peak heat indices of 110 to 115 with dew points in the mid to upper
70s into next week. This translates to moderate to predominately
major HeatRisk conditions, though some areas of extreme HeatRisk
will be possible in the Brush Country. We strongly encourage the
practice of heat safety in these conditions. Take frequent breaks
and remember to stay hydrated, check those backseats, and avoid long
exposure in these temperatures. For more information be sure to
check out weather.gov/heatsafety.

There will be an additional risk for elevated fire weather over
the Rio Grande Plains into the next week due to low RH (<30%).
Even though winds aren`t expected to be near criteria during this
time frame, fires can still be easily ignited given the dry
conditions.

.MARINE...
Issued at 329 PM CDT Tue Aug 18 2026

Onshore winds will be generally gentle to moderate (BF 3-4), with
occasional fresh (BF-5) flow possible each afternoon into the
early evening hours. Seas should remain relatively steady around
2-3 ft with no significant marine hazards anticipated. Rain
chances will remain very low through the weekend, with chances
returning next week.
