.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1226 PM CDT Sat Aug 2 2025

Several inches of rain fell across a good portion of the region last
evening with several strong thunderstorms scattered across much of
the Coastal Plains and Brush Country. The surface boundary along our
northern border is expected to lift north/northeast overnight
tonight through Sunday afternoon. A low (20-35%) chance for
showers and thunderstorms is possible Monday across northeastern
counties as another disturbance attempts to move through this
region. Otherwise, have maintained a low (<30%) chance for
convection through Wednesday with lower chances after that as
ridging builds back over the area.

Above normal temperatures and humid conditions near the surface
continue to promote a moderate to major risk of heat related
illness through Monday then becomes more of a moderate risk from
Tuesday through the rest of the period as cooler 850mb
temperatures promote slightly cooler surface temperatures. Today
and Monday continue to expect heat indices up to around 110 or
slightly higher mainly along the inland Coastal Bend. Then heat
indices expected to back off to around 105-110 through next
weekend. A Heat Advisory is in effect again today and another one
may be needed for Monday but will revisit that in an upcoming
forecast package. Please continue to practice heat safety as
summer is not over yet.
