.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1136 PM CDT Mon Aug 18 2025

Current conditions around the region tonight are quiet and warm
under mostly clear skies. Heading into Today we will embark on a
wetter pattern. The aforementioned shortwaves are expected to
continue riding the periphery of the ridge through this weekend
combined with PWs generally above 2.25". This is expected to allow
for persistent showers and thunderstorms across South Texas until
later in the week. PoPs increase to a medium to high (45-75%) as
a mid-level disturbance approaches the region from the NE beginning
Today, providing a focus for the convection. The increase in PoPs
should bring down heat stress conditions across the area during
the latter portions of the work week through this weekend, though
a gradual warming trend can be expected next week as we dry out.
Expected rainfall totals will likely be up to 1" though some
isolated higher amounts will be possible. Let`s hope we can get
some of this beneficial rain over the reservoir!

.AVIATION...
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1136 PM CDT Mon Aug 18 2025

VFR conditions under mostly clear skies and light winds can be
expected overnight. Patchy dense fog (LIFR) is still possible for
a few hours near the ALI terminal toward morning, as has been
observed the past few mornings. Although the increase in deep
layer moisture should limit the fog over the VCT Terminal. Any fog
should burn off by 14z revealing VFR conditions with light
southeast winds. Expect a good chance for showers and
thunderstorms this afternoon as a mid level disturbance moves
southwestward down the Texas coast. Will show Prob30s for most
sites beginning around 18z in VCT, 19z CRP and 20z ALI. More
uncertain on whether storms will reach the western terminals but
if so, it should be after 23z. Convection should dissipate with
the loss of heating Tuesday evening with a broken cirrus deck
persisting into Tuesday Night.
