Survey Summary:
A National Weather Service Storm Survey team has determined that
an EF-0 tornado with maximum estimated winds of 85 mph occurred in
Trumbull and Mahoning Counties on July 21, 2026. The tornado
extended for over 6 miles with a maximum path width of about 100
yards.

The tornado formed in the southeast portion of Liberty Township
in Trumbull County, Ohio at the northwest corner of Hubbard Road
(US Route 62) and Logan Gate Road, where a couple tree branches
were snapped. The tornado continued southeast along Applegate
Road, crossing into Hubbard, causing more tree damage and some
minor roof damage to a residence, exhibiting 85 mph winds. Dozens
of trees were damaged further southeast in a heavily wooded area,
as the tornado crossed into Mahoning County and into the
Youngstown city limits. The tornado entered the McGuffey Heights
neighborhood with tree damage observed in the vicinity of Jacobs
Road and Orrin Avenue and extending southeast onto Gerwig Avenue.
The tornado reached the vicinity of Coitsville-Hubbard Road (Ohio
State Route 616) and McGuffey Road causing more minor tree damage
and flipping a wagon that was attached to a heavier trailer. The
tornado reached the vicinity of North Hubbard Road and Johnson
Road, prompting more minor tree damage. The tornado intensified
once again to 85 mph along Wilson Lane with a concentrated area of
large snapped tree branches that caused minor damage to a
residence. The tornado then uprooted several trees along Oak
Street before continuing southeast to the Ohio/Pennsylvania state
line, north of US Route 422.

From here, this tornado continued southeast into Lawrence County,
Pennsylvania. Please see the Public Information Statement from
the National Weather Service office in Pittsburgh for details for
that portion of the tornado.

In summary, for Ohio, this EF-0 tornado had estimated maximum
wind gusts of 85 mph in southwest Hubbard and southeastern
Coitsville Township and was on the ground for about 16 minutes,
extending for over 6 miles with a maximum path width of about 100
yards.
